About
Neal has been interested and involved in music since back before his gig in the Welly Road high school musical The Golden Masque … Neal has also been in bands; writing songs and playing saxophone and guitar. This sidelined into music journalism, for some reputable and some not so reputable, music mags and web sites.
This then segued into a kind of not-for-profit consultancy, an innnocent enough pursuit to begin with, helping artists in any areas that needed work, ie: publicist or agent. It turned a little more serious when he took on the management of The Beautiful Girls within a few months of the band forming (before the bands first release), managing them through their development from 2000 until Aug 2009 – this lead to all kinds of national and international hijinks – tours, releases and whatnot – and formed relationships at home and away.
As with pretty much anyone that has a passion for music, he has never stopped buying, and listening to, music. In the Sureshaker guise Neal now manages Sticky Fingers, continues to consult and liase where people feel necessary, and manages Rogerthat (still there?). Together with his partner Magda they consult and aid where possible all artists they are associated with. Neal is always looking for new music, great artists and intriguing songs. Currently listening to: Sticky Fingers, Citizen Cope, the Panics, Orange Juice (so good) and always singing: the Swans theme song.
Neal also teaches music mangement, micro business, marketing and tour management.
